Marcus L. Brown

Marcus L. Brown 67, went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2019 surrounded by his family at home. He was born August 7, 1952, in Texarkana, Texas to Leaona and Roy Brown. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 in the chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home South Side. Marcus and his family moved to Shreveport from Flint in 1996, after being transferred with General Motors. He retired after 34 years of service with GM. After retiring he had more time to do the things he loved; including fishing, traveling, barbequing, and spending time with his family. Most of all, Marcus was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, son, Nikolas Devon Brown and sister-in-law, Betty Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Katie Brown; three children, Marcus J. Brown and wife Sharee, Marlon Brown and Isaiah Brown; eight grandchildren, Amore, Marlon, Jr., Markita, Mareon, Nikolas Jr., Christian, Amyah, and Charli; sister, Deborah Miller and husband Terry of Flint, MI; brother, William Brown of Flint, MI; his favorite niece, Niko Walker; three sisters-in-law, Diane Crawford of Flint, MI, Kathleen Jones and husband Michael of Detroit, MI, and Frances Hughes of St. Louis, MO; two brothers-in-law, Robert Marthrel and wife Linda of Houston, TX and Walter James of Flint, MI; special cousins Bennie Rhodes of Oakland, CA and Onetia Thompson of Flint, MI; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The Brown family would like to send a heart felt thank you to Amedisys Hospice, and Dr. Patell and all the staff at Willis Knighton Cancer Center, in Shreveport, and to our neighbors and friends, the Montgomery's and Shackleford's, and an extra special thank you to Earl Lewis for all of your help.
