Margaret (Bye) T. Evans

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Margaret (Bye) T. Evans, 91, will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2016, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Steve Fowler of Pineville, LA assisted by Rev. Bill Foster pastor of Northpoint United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the mausoleum at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Rose-Neath. Mrs. Evans was born on January 9, 1925 in Saltville, Virginia and died on March 16, 2016 in Bossier City, Louisiana. She was a member of Northpoint United Methodist Church in Blanchard, Louisiana. She was a 1947 graduate of Duke University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was an instructor at Northwestern State University School of Nursing from 1954 to 1959, after serving several years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in New Orleans. She was an avid Blue Devil basketball fan. Preceding Mrs. Evans in death were her husband of 60 years, John Evans, and her parents, William and Lois Thompson. She is survived by several cousins. Pallbearers will be Larry Bagley, Evan Kilpatrick, Jerry Kilpatrick, Ralph Kilpatrick, Ricky Kilpatrick and Charles Walker. Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Puckett. In lieu of flowers, suggestions are that memorials be made to Northpoint United Methodist Church, 6675 LA. Hwy. 1 North, Shreveport, LA 71107, or a charity of choice.
