Margaret Ann Holley

Shreveport, LA - Funeral services for Margaret (Margie) Blake Holley, 67, will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Shreveport, LA at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18th 2015 followed with interment at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Joseph Kallookalem. Visitation will be held on Friday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside from 5 - 7 with a Rosary at 5:30. Margie was born to Richard Edward Blake and Bonnie Louise Webb Blake on July 10, 1947. She came home from the hospital to live in Allendale and later moved to Westover Street where she grew up. She went to Werner Park, Midway and graduated from Fair Park in 1965 when it was Fair. Her mother was from Ringgold, LA so many weekends were spent with her aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ringgold. In fact the Webb family said that she is the sweetest person that they knew. She enjoyed bowling, canasta, the Red Hat Society, St Pius Church Guild, Bunco, ceramics, and friends of Bill. Margie was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease or ALS in August of 2014 by Dr. Stanley Appel. She passed away peacefully on April 13th 2015 surrounded by her husband and children. ALS is a disease that robs a person's ability to move their muscles. They still have feeling in the muscle but lose the ability to move and typically die from respiratory problems due to loss of diaphragm muscles. The process is slow, painful and generally progresses in 3-5 years. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Pete, a son Brian of Cypress, TX, a daughter Tracy of Plano, TX. Brian provided her with two grandsons, Layton and Noah. She is also survived by her sister Glenda and husband George Osteen. She is survived by three uncles, an aunt, many cousins, nephews, and nieces. She also survived by the mother of her grandchildren Kim Holley and many many friends. Margie worked many jobs including concessions stands at the Sanger Theater, Hirsch, and Century Tel. She worked at Western Electric as a switch assembler and Key punch operator. Her favorite job was babysitting Betty Howell\'s grandkids. We want to express special thanks to Christus Hospice, especially Stephanie and Debbie and to all caregivers- Sherry, Trina, Ruthie, "Kay" and Sonia. Pallbearers will be grandsons Layton and Noah Holley, nephews Blake and Ryan Murray and Mark Holley and cousins David and Chris Webb. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the ALS Association at PO BOX 66825 Baton Rouge, LA 70896-6825. Rose-Neath Southside 2500 Southside Drive 318-687-1256
