Services for Margaret Elizabeth Bell McKenzie, 97, of Shreveport will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Mangum Memorial United Methodist Church, 3939 Pines Rd., Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. John Higginbotham. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery; St. Vincent Ave. Visitation will be Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rose-Neath Marshall St.
Margaret was born November 14, 1916 in Simsboro, LA. She graduated from Fair Park High School and Centenary College of Louisiana. Post graduate studies at Columbia University and the University of Arkansas. Margaret taught at Fair Park High School and Midway Junior High School. She was a charter member Alpha Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International. Margaret was a lifelong member of Mangum Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught the Win One Sunday School Class for many years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Reginald O. Bell Sr. and Mary Lee Givens Bell; husband Dr. Earl A. McKenzie; sister Pauline Bell Pierce; brother Reginald O. Bell Jr. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Mary McKenzie Rogers and husband, Robert Russell Rogers of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren Leann Rogers Nowak and husband, James of Pensacola, FL, Robert E. Rogers of Dallas, TX, great-grandchildren Connor Evan Billy and Lauren Elizabeth Nowak and a host of much loved nieces and nephews.
Honoring Margaret as pallbearers will be Russ Rogers, Rob Rogers, Connor Bilby, Jim Nowak, Rev. John Pierce, Frank Pierce, Melvin Simmons and Tommy Stahl.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. P.V. Blanchard and Staff, St. Joseph Hospice and special gratitude to Patricia Taylor, Mary Alice Williams, Dezzie Gibson, Sibyl Buck, Glenda Mitchell, and Laverne Varner for their years of love and care.
The family requests that memorials may be made to Mangum Memorial UMC or to the charity of donor's choice.
