Margaret Etta Reeves

Services for Margaret Etta Whorton Reeves will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana.  A visitation will be held before the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Highway 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana.  Officiating will be Reverend David Dietzel and Reverend Sione Tu’uta. 

Margaret was born on June 20, 1940, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  She died on Monday, November 20, 2023, after a brief illness.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Whorton; her husband of 62 years, Edgar Rudolph “Rudy” Reeves; her daughter, Lisa Reeves Harrington; her brothers, C.G. Whorton, Jr., Charles Whorton, Larry Whorton and Billy Whorton; and her sisters, Frances Bickham and Betty Jane Hackman.  Survivors include her daughter, Jayne Reeves and fiancé, John Carter; grandson, Ryan Hadden; great-granddaughter, Leanna Hadden; great-grandson, Colton Hadden; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and her beloved granddog, Sophie. 

Margaret was the youngest of seven children.  She graduated from Bossier High School in 1958, and she attended LSU in Baton Rouge.   After marrying Rudy in 1959, she worked for Pak-A-Sak.  In the late 1960s she and Rudy, along with her brother Larry and his wife Gloria, bought Britt’s Grocery, which they owned for 35 years.  Margaret was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Bossier City, where she was a charter member of the Midyett Bible Class.
