Margetta Stoddard

SHREVEPORT, LA - A Memorial service celebrating the Life of Margetta Spears Stoddard, 78, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, 520 Herndon St., Shreveport, LA, with the Rev. Mimi McDowell officiating. Margetta was born May 1, 1940 in Rodessa, LA to Mary Ethel Layne Spears and Roby Oslan Spears and passed away June 2, 2018, in Shreveport, LA. A graduate of North Caddo High and Centenary College, Margetta was the consummate educator. Over the course of her career, she taught hundreds of students and touched many lives. She parlayed her love of teaching mathematics into a job selling math textbooks, and did this for a number of years prior to retirement. During retirement, she continued to have many interests, including china painting, reading, cooking, and spending time with family--her grandchildren in particular--and friends. She will be greatly missed. Margetta was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 54 years Wayne F. Stoddard, III; and her children Jolayne Stoddard Faherty and husband Jack, William Robert Stoddard, Jonathan Scott Stoddard, and her grandchildren.
