SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Margie R. Rayburn will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Charles Middleton. Interment will be at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Bossier City, LA.
Margie was born September 3, 1948 in Smackover, AR to Jim A. "Dude" Roe and Viola Hilborn Roe and died February 15, 2015 in Shreveport. Margie was a diligent advocate for all children and their education. She volunteered in the PTA for 40+ years. She began volunteering when her sons started school and continued even after their graduations. Margie was active in the schools they attended, as well as serving as Caddo District PTA President and Louisiana State PTA President. She helped to begin the Operation A+ program and received the KTBS "On Your Side" award. For her years of dedication to PTA, she was honored with the Distinguished Life Service Award for Caddo District, Louisiana State and the National PTA. Margie was also a member of the Lucile Caldwell Unit of the Louisiana Association of Parliamentarians and served as its President.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Margie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Mark Rayburn; sons, Marshall Rayburn, Matthew Rayburn; sisters, Lynda Bugh, Jimmie and husband, Bobby Neal, Dianne and husband, Mike Reynolds and dear friends, Betty and Barbara Helms.
Honoring Margie as pallbearers will be James "Jimbo" Brooks, Steve Chamberlain, Bobby Neal, Rob Neal, Jimmy Middleton and Clarence Ybos.
The family suggests memorials to the Caddo District PTA Scholarship Fund in memory of Margie Rayburn.
