Margurite Cox

SHREVEPORT, LA: Margurite (Rita) Haynes Cox was born in Plain Dealing, LA on November 11, 1926 to Walter Russell and Ethel Morgan Haynes and died in Shreveport, LA on May 13, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sidney Cox, Jr., siblings, Howard Haynes, Clyde Haynes, Mildred Haynes Carter, Vera Haynes Arnold. She is survived by her children, Carol Cox Peterson, James Sidney Cox and wife Judy, and Roger Alan Cox and wife Sarena. Grandchildren are Keith Alan Peterson and wife Brooke, Kimberly Peterson Brown and husband Jarrod, Shannon Cox Ingebritson and husband John, Sarah Bolinger Wright and husband Daniel, and Megan Cox Wood and husband Adam. Great grandchildren are Beatrix Sidney Peterson, Fiona Kerry Peterson, Riley Madison Brown, and Jack Sebastian Wood who all loved her dearly. She is also survived by a sister, Joyce Hinson Behrens and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mother lived in Homer for nearly 70 years and moved to assisted living in Shreveport 3 years ago. She was a homemaker, enjoyed traveling with Daddy, playing bridge, and visiting with friends and her family. She will be missed.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 15, for 10 a.m., at Rose Neath Homer, 405 East 5th Street, Homer, LA 71040 and the funeral service followed at 11 a.m. Donations in Mother's name may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Homer, 501 West Third Street, Homer, LA 71040 or to the charity of your choice.
