Mrs. Monroe was born on August 12, 1932 in Shreveport, LA and passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 peacefully in her sleep. She was a member of the First Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mama was forever faithful to her children as a loving mother. Raising three boys made her practical minded and a hard worker. Her childhood as a farm girl helped form her strong work ethic which was observed and instilled in her boys. Her talents were many: she knitted beautiful sweaters and blankets for her children, grandchildren and friends; she was a church pianist, who loved music of all kinds. She particularly loved to sing Happy Birthday wishes to her family in her later years. She never tired of cooking for her visiting children and grandchildren no matter how big the task. Her wisdom and insights were sought and valued by her children and friends. Her accomplishments were many and the results of her talents remain for us to enjoy in her memory.
Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by her father, James Eugene Simpson, and her mother, Katherine Hartley Simpson. She is survived by three sons, Charles Arlan Monroe and wife Mary Ann of Nashville, TN, Roger Monroe and wife Lori of Colorado Springs, CO, Brian Monroe and wife Cindy of Shreveport, LA, eight grandchildren Airic and wife Ashley, Wesley, Lucas, Dalton, Sean, Colton and Katie Beth Monroe and two sisters, Era Mae Barnhart and Jacqueline Siebenlist.
She was a woman who molded boys into men. She will be missed and remembered dearly.
