Marie McDaniel Green

Marie McDaniel Green joined her Precious Savior in Heaven on July 16, 2023, at the age of 97.

She was born on February 9, 1926, to Lester and Bertha (Milford) McDaniel in Carthage, Panola County, TX and graduated from Carthage High School in 1944. From there she went to work with her dad, who was an entrepreneur. He owned several businesses in Carthage including one he named after her, Marie’s Confectionary. She also worked at the Courthouse and the bank.

In 1948, she moved to Shreveport to work at Commercial Bank. While living there, she met her lifelong partner, Rayburn Dee Green. He was fresh out of the Navy and working at the Coca-Cola plant. After a five-month courtship, they married and lived in Shreveport until 1976 when they moved to Benton, LA where they lived for 35 years. They were longtime members of Cypress Baptist Church in Benton where Marie was the librarian.

Mom was able to live independently after daddy’s death in a townhouse in Shreveport from 2011-2020 when she moved to the Oaks of Louisiana where she resided until her death. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Oaks and Life Path Hospice for the care they rendered for our mother. To mention one would leave many caring and loving people out. They know we know who they are.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rayburn Dee Green; and sons-in-law, Carter Sanders, and Barry Lee. Marie is survived by a large, devoted family. Two years ago, she became a great-great-grandmother and there were five living generations in our family until her death.

She is survived by her son, Michael Dee Green, his children, son, Brandon (Jenn), and his children, Ally and Caleb and their son, Cannon and daughter, Kristen (Kelly) as well as the mother of their children, Debbie Green.

She is also survived by a daughter, Denise Sanders and her children, Kayce Merry and her sons, Davis and Will and Lindsey Miller (Mark) and their children, Cole, Luke, Jake, Mollie Sue and Anna Kate Miller; a daughter, Jeanmarie Morris (Bill) and her children, Barry Nathan Lee (Jessica) and their children, James and Samantha, daughter, Valerie Lynn Camferdam (Keith), and her children, Victoria Lynn Atkins (Brandon), and their children, Leo and Ash, daughter Emma Camferdam and son, Kayne Lynn.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, LA followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Tommy Patton of Cypress Baptist Church of Benton, LA. Marie will be laid to rest with her husband, Rayburn at the NWLA Veteran’s Cemetery in Keithville, LA. There will be no graveside service.
