Services for Marilyn Sudduth Hansen will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at The Church of the Holy Cross Episcopal in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Reverend Kenneth Paul will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Ms. Hansen died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, December 21, 2017. She was born May 9, 1929 in Bunkie, Louisiana and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana in 1954 where she spent most of her life.
A graduate of Louisiana State University, Ms. Hansen served as Organist-Choirmaster for Barksdale Air Force Base, The Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, and as Assistant Organist-Choirmaster for St. Mark\'s Episcopal Church in Shreveport. She was a member of The American Guild of Organists. She taught on the faculty of St. Mark\'s Day School and St. Vincent\'s Academy, and in her own studio. She founded The Shreveport Boychoir (a community choir) and served as Music Director and Conductor of that organization until her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James William and Lucille Sewell Sudduth and her grandson, Thomas Hansen Welch. Survivors are five daughters, Gayle Browne and husband Jim, Kathryn Moss, Patricia Waddle and husband Rob, Marilyn Timbs and husband Jeff, and Amy Henry and husband Travis, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
