OBITUARY OF MARION WYATT BEVILL

5:30am Thursday, October 14, 2021

A sadder than sad, glorious hallelujah day. We are left with a void so huge it can NEVER be filled. If you knew him, count yourself most fortunate - for he was ONE OF A KIND!! No one..... and I mean no one......could tell a story like Wyatt Bevill. He liked everyone he met and he always had something positive to say. Marion Wyatt Bevill was born March 31, 1935 to Benjamin Lloyd Bevill, Sr. and Esther Nall Bevill in the Blakewood House in Haynesville, Louisiana.

Wyatt worked in oil and gas measurement for all his working career beginning two weeks after high school and for the next 28 years with Mid-Valley Pipeline in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and Haynesville, Louisiana. The next 16 years were spent with a locally operated Texas company, Brown Measurement. 1997 he happily began his own business "Bevill Meter Service", retiring in 2001. He often commented on how lucky he was to have a job he enjoyed so much that he looked forward to getting up and going to work every day. His family greatly admired Wyatt for his accomplishments through his perseverance and dedication to his craft so he could provide a better life for them.

He was a superb metal and wood craftsman, a perfectionist and an inventor. He was a man of his word and he stood behind his work. His business card reads:

Bevill's Motto:

"The quality of the product is long lasting after time and price are forgotten"

Wyatt's "younger glory days" were his hot rod cars and taking his sweetheart riding on his motorcycle which had her name painted on one side and his on the other to show his devotion to her. Wyatt was married 66 wonderful years to that sweetheart, his surviving spouse, Madge Edwards Bevill, whom he affectionately called "My Love". They have three surviving daughters, Melody Bevill Gregg (Harvey) of Sterlington, Louisiana; Marsha Bevill of Homer, Louisiana; Michelle Bevill Tuggle (Russell) of Homer, Louisiana; and One son, Marcus Wyatt Bevill (deceased); Three grandchildren, Shaunna Bevill Flint of Pike, New York; Jonathan Lafitte (Yuwen) of Atlanta, Georgia; Morgan Lafitte of New Milford, New Jersey; and Two great grandchildren, Kyra and Addison Flint of Pike, New York. Wyatt loved hunting, fishing, boating, knife making, car racing and football. Super Bowls were always a family event and to his dying day, Wyatt was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Wyatt's "family fun-in-the-sun glory days" were spent camping on Lake Claiborne with their "souped-up/super-charged" ski boat and teaching his children to water ski. All four children agreed over the years that this was the best-ever quality family time and they would not trade those years of fun-in-the-sun with their parents for anything in this world. His "fun time" in later life was to peruse pawn shops to see what kind of deals he could make.....and he was well schooled in the art of negotiations. Oh, how Wyatt loved a pawn shop - possibly even more than Madge loved the antique stores!! His eyes lit up when they headed to Shreveport because he knew all the pawn shops along the way. I'd swear the car had a homing device and knew exactly where to turn in all by itself. He was well liked by the store owners for his honesty. This was especially evidenced when they surprised him with a gift on his birthday. Doctors said that Wyatt had been living on borrowed time because they fully expected he would not make it through the May 2018 surgery that left a hole in his chest. But GOD graciously granted Wyatt the extra time here on Earth to prepare for his parting day. Dying is a fear we all have but Wyatt used his granted time wisely and recently stated he was no longer afraid to die. Wyatt certainly set a faithful example of how a man can turn his life around. He testified for GOD with everyone he met. Wyatt glorified GOD to the very end. And while with loving memory, he will forevermore be known for his famous saying

............."AND ALL THERE".........

............the words he spoke multiple times a day since his 2018 chest surgery were:

"GOD BLESS YOU AND GOD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FROM HERE TO ETERNITY".

The family has asked for no flowers for the graveside service, but rather to make a donation to the association of their choice. An interment will be held for Wyatt, age 86, at Whitehall Cemetery in Leton, LA, on Saturday, November, 13, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marcel McGee, officiating.
