A “Celebration of Life” Memorial Service for Mark Warren Lane, 51, will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 6295 Williams Road, Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Mike Stowell.
Mark was born on December 14, 1971 in Norwich, Connecticut to Mark Lane and Karen Mubarak and passed away on June 12, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Mark was a resident of Shreveport and a business owner in the food and beverage industry. He was a man who faced life’s curiosities with wild abandon. He was a lifelong spiritual voyager, seeking the wisdom of many paths up the same mountain – his most often used words. Recently, upon learning of his passing, neighbors who had only met Mark Warren recently, broke into tears. Other new friends shared how much their limited time with him touched their hearts and how in awe they were of his magnetic energy. These people were instantly attracted to “the man on the porch” because, as all of us who were blessed enough to ever be in his orbit know, Mark Warren Lane dynamically touched humanity throughout his life. Yet, he was too humble to realize how strongly he drew people in.
We struggle to find the words to capture the essence of such a man. But, all of us know in our hearts that special bond he built uniquely with each of us. A longtime friend summarized it best, upon asking him for a single word that best describes our son, brother, nephew, and friend: “If I had to pick only one word to describe him, I’d pick LUMINOUS. Mark was absolutely luminous. He certainly was a brilliant, radiant light everywhere he went.”
Mark is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Catherine P. Berry; maternal grandfather, James C. Berry; paternal grandmother, Doris Hautamaki; paternal grandfather, Pete Hautamaki; and last but not least, first pup, Smokey.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Karen Mubarak; father, Mark Lane and his wife, Beth; stepmother, Nova Lane; sister, Catherine Lane and brother-in-law, William Orendorff, sister, Emily Tolson and brother-in-law, John Tolson; aunt, Rhonda Berry; uncle and aunt, Jimmy and Roxie Berry; uncle, Jimmy Lane; cousins, Robert Berry and wife, Heather, James Berry and wife, Erica, James Joseph Berry, Angelina Berry, Hayes Berry, Jimmy Lane, and Matt Lane; nephew, Landon Tolson; and niece, Mackenzie Tolson.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund of the First Baptist Church of Keithville.
