Marlene K. Hicks SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Marlene K. Hicks, 78, will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel, Shreveport, LA. Interment will be at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Blanchard, LA. Officiating will be Rev. M. C. Cady. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the funeral home. Marlene was born to Leonard Thomas Kent and Ludie Virginia Allen Kent on April 24, 1937 in Shreveport, LA and passed away at her home with her family at her side in Shreveport on August 21, 2015. Marlene and John were married for 59 years; she was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her role as Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marlene was a lifetime member of Northpoint United Methodist Church; her faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. The biggest part of knowing Marlene was the love and kindness she had always. Marlene is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Rosemary Murdishaw. She is survived by her husband, John W. Hicks; Sons, John F. Hicks and wife, Sonya, Howell Hicks and wife, Christi; daughters, Gale Lynch and husband, Mike, and Lisa Combs and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Devin Madison, Ashley Kasnicka, Kristen Gentry, Isabella Hicks, Taylor Hicks, Samantha Hicks, Zack Reeve, Caleb Reeve; Great-grandchildren, Audrey Madison, Jake Madison, Kinley Kasnicka, and Norah Gentry; sister, Virginia Dean and husband, Charles. Honoring Marlene as pallbearers will be Leonard Dean, James Edwards, Dave Gentry, Brian Madison, Caleb Reeve, Zack Reeve, Dan Yates. The family would like to thank the staff of Willis Knighton Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that any memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105
