Marshall Marion Jones, 88, of De Berry, Texas went to his Heavenly Home Sunday, February 19, 2023, after a brave battle of a lengthy illness.
Marshall was born August 13, 1934, in Winnfield, Louisiana to Marion James Jones and Selma Keene Jones. After graduating from Winnfield High School, he joined the United States Airforce and served during the Korean Conflict stationed in North Africa, serving 4 years and 4 years active reserve. In addition to being a Veteran, he was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. Marshall later studied “Ear Tuning” of pianos and was the most sought after in his profession. He was co-owner of the Powell-Jones Music Company. One year, he had a booth at the Louisiana State Fair where he met a blonde-haired lady that owned Baldwin Music Company, that also had a booth at the fair, that would be Helen, his soon to be wife. He sold his part of Powell-Jones Music Company and shared ownership at Baldwin Music Company for many years.
He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church until he could no longer get around to go. He was a God loving man and loved sharing the word with those he met. Any spare time that he had, he loved nothing more than spending time with family, traveling, fishing, hunting with the boys and rodeos with Staci. He always managed to find the time and patience for everybody.
Preceding Marshall in death were his parents, Marion and Selma Jones; daughters, Delores Ann Jones, Jennifer Denise Jones-Barker, and Carman Staci Jones-White; sister, Thelma Bilyeu, twin sister, Margie Franks, and sister, Sue Lowe. Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Helen Keeth Jones; daughters, Diane Ferras and husband Ignacio A. Ferras, III, and Deborah Solice; sons, John David Jones and wife Cheryl, and Ronnie Dale Jones and wife Kimberly; step-son, Steve Harris and wife Karen; step-daughter, Kim Richard and husband Ellis; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a very dear, faithful friend and caregiver, Sharlene Horton.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023, located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home-2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana 71118. Officiating the service will be Bro. Chad Hardbarger with Rev. Willie Grace assisting. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Haughton, Louisiana.
