Martha Guess

Graveside services celebrating the life of Martha Hammock Guess, age 86 will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the Vivian Cemetery, Vivian, LA with Rev. Bill Treadway pastor of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 29th at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, LA from 9:30 until service time. Martha was born September 11, 1934 in Shreveport, LA to her parents, Howard Alvyn Hammock and Mary Allen Bayliss Hammock and passed away on June 25, 2021 at the Vivian Healthcare. She was a licensed LVN having worked at the P&S Hospital, Linden Hospital and North Caddo Medical Hospital. Martha loved to do catering, painting, doll making and flower arranging with the Hosston Garden Club. Martha also loved to cook and had her recipes published in the Caddo Citizen under Martha's Cookery. She instrumental in arranging the school reunions for the Vivian Warriors. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; son, Howard Vallen Lawrence and two step-sons, Joey Guess and Donnie Guess. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 46 years, Jerry Guess of Vivian, LA; son, John Lawrence of Marshall, TX, daughter, Elaine Henderson of Diana, TX and step-sons, Kevin Guess and Kacey Guess both of Vivian, LA; step-daughters, Kellie Morris of Belcher, LA and Marilyn (Mimi) Beck of Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by her brother, Howard Hammock of Vivian, LA; grandchildren, Judson Lawrence, Abbie Lawrence, Leander Price, Jr., John Price, Chris Price, Justin Price, and Jason Price; great grandchildren, Sadie, Sam, Erica, David, Bradley, Kevin, Austin, Alaina, Jasmine, Britlee, Gracie, Lindslee, Grayson and Haygen; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Honoring Martha as pallbearers will be Michael Hammock, Brandon Williams, Judson Lawrence, John Lawrence, Billy McNeal and Zachary Howard.
