Martha Jean Haley, 91, was born on January 22, 1933, to Charles and Loma Marion in Benham, Kentucky. She passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, husband, Carol Wayne Haley, and daughter, Carol McLaughlin. She is survived by her children, Teresa Bute, and husband, Alan; Roger Haley and wife, Betty; Tammy Lanier and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Jamie McLaughlin, Joshua McLaughlin and wife, Bobbie, Holly Black and husband, Quinton, Elizabeth Haley, Sarah Haley, Matthew Loesch; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn McLaughlin, Abigail, Madison, and Savannah Black, Xabrian Banks Jr., and Josiah Nowlin; along with many nieces and nephews, including Alice Raleigh who was raised as her sister.
Martha was known for her unwavering faith, and finding strength in her relationship with God, which served as an inspiration to those around her. She loved to sing and play the tambourine in church, instilling a love for music in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She spent many years teaching children in Sunday School.
Martha leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family. Being an Air Force wife for 18 years, she was committed to making each house a home in the various places they lived. She loved exploring different places. Martha was a homemaker for many years. She taught an English-speaking class while the family was stationed in Taiwan. Then she worked in the dry cleaning business, becoming the District Manager before retiring.
Martha will be fondly remembered for her spirit and her love for her family and friends. While her presence will be deeply missed; she is completely healed, dancing, and singing in Heaven. Her legacy of love and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A private memorial service will be held for her in the near future.
