Martha Ann Hancock, lovingly known in her later years as "Nanna", died on Thursday, May 5, 2016. She was 85. Services will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Broadmoor Baptist Memorial Chapel, with Dr. Tom Harrison officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the Church Parlor.
Born and raised in Minden, LA, she was a Minden High School graduate and church secretary at First Baptist Church for 29 years. She later moved to Shreveport where she worked at The Children's Center and in the Music Ministry at Broadmoor Baptist Church. Martha's spunky personality, quick wit, and southern charm were a magnet to those around her. To know her was to love her. She was happiest when she was with her grandchildren and rarely missed an event or baseball game. She lived life fearlessly, with zest, and cherished every moment.
Many have claimed her as a second mother or their "Nanna" throughout the years. She was always there with a hug, a meal, a ride, or a word of advice. She unconditionally believed in her "children" and was always ready for an adventure.
Martha adored her parents, Marvin Scott Talton and Oma Fuller Talton, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Hancock, and son-in-law, Ricky Lee Attaway. Family was everything to Martha and she devoted her life to caring for them. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Hancock Attaway and twin grandchildren, Peyton and Paige Attaway.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Iqbal Singh, Matt, Sonya and Christi for taking such good care of Martha. Also, a special thanks to Christus Hospice and Grace Home for making her feel comfortable and loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Music Ministry at First Baptist Church, 301 Pennsylvania Ave., Minden, LA 71055 or Broadmoor Baptist Church, 4110 Youree Dr., Shreveport, LA 71105 since Martha's love for choir and music was reflected through her life.
