Nan Carr passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2023. Born on August 19, 1930, her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Almer Eugene Edmonds.
After graduating form C. E. Byrd High School, she attended Centenary College of Louisiana where she earned a B.A. degree in Music. While at Centenary, she was a proud member of Chi Omega Fraternity. She became a proud Chi Omega momma when in 1974, daughter Dottie Pledged Chi Omega at Louisiana State University.
On July 26, 1951, Nan married her soul mate, the late Dr. Allan Northcutt Carr. They had 65 years together. Their children are Dorothy Edmonds Carr Ruesch and husband, Kevin, Patrick Ruesch, Alfred Fredrick Carr and the late, Mark Allen Carr.
Nan was a member of first Presbyterian Church. She loved her church and served as Deacon, Elder, and Moderator of Presbyterian Women. She was honored with a Life Membership.
The Carr Family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Village Health Care at The Glen and to Amedisys Hospice. Thank you for the care and compassion you gave to mom.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 900 Jordan St., Shreveport, Louisiana 71101, Providence House, 814 Cotton St., Shreveport, Louisiana 71101 or the charity of your choice.
A private graveside will be held at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent, officiated by Reverend Dr. Will Scott. A visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
