SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Martha Virginia Remedies, 72, at Saint Mary of the Pines Church in Shreveport, LA on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 10:00 with Father Francis Kamau, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Rose-Neath Southside with Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Remedies was born on November 21, 1943 to James Thomas Leonard and Fara Laverne Ackel in Converse, Louisiana. She entered into rest on Monday, November 30, 2015 in Shreveport, LA. Martha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended Zwolle High School, graduated from Southwood High School, and was an active member of the community. She spent much of her life devoted to the caring for others serving as President of the Marian Ladies Auxiliary, as well as an active member of the Catholic Daughters. She will be long remembered for her tenacity, gumption, heart, laughter, friendship and love for those around her.
Mrs. Remedies is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Bobby Delane Leonard. She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby, her three sons, Jeffrey and his wife, Kimberly, Gregorey and his wife, Rachael, Kevin and his wife, Suzanne. Seven grandchildren, Maria Suzanne, James Robert, Branden Jeffrey, Ryan Thomas, Colton Emile, Robert Craig, and Tyler Leonard, and seven great-grandchildren, Terance Dayton, Gregorey Blake, Madeline Faith, Christopher Robert, Jacob Lynn, Robert Isiah and Mathew Adam.
Pallbearers will be Gregorey, Kevin, James, and Branden Remedies, Dayton Hamilton and Nicholas Garza. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marian Council, Marian Ladies Auxiliary, and Catholic Daughters.
