Services celebrating the life of Marvin L. Rhoads, age 66 of Vivian, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Oil City United Pentecostal Church, 701 Highway 1, South, Oil City, LA. Officiating the services will be Rev. Kent Rhoads pastor of Oil City UPC and Rev. Jeff Story pastor of McLeod UPC. Interment will follow at the Vivian Cemetery, Vivian, LA. There will be a time of visitation on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church. Marvin was born December 28, 1950 in Atlanta, Texas to Kenneth Kemp Rhoads and Vetra Wilkins Rhoads and passed away on November 29, 2017 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was a resident of Vivian, La. most of his life, a very active member of the Oil City UPC, a welder in construction and a barber. Marvin loved to fish, hunt, weld, and tinker on just about anything. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Vetra Rhoads, his second mother, Cortez Bush Rhoads, who came into his life when he was 14 and loving adopted him many years later when she was at the age of 93; brothers, Kenneth K. Rhoads, Jr and Melvin Rhoads; sister, Joyce Rhoads and her husband, Eddie. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Melva Tarno Rhoads of Vivian, LA; son, Shane Rhoads and wife Terris of Pearcy, AR; daughter, Tiffany McGuire and husband, Trey of Bossier City, LA; his precious grandson and Papa's sidekick, Preston Rhoads; brother, Tim White and wife, Janice of Shreveport, LA. Marvin is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Honoring Marvin as pallbearers will be Ronnie Rhoads, Keith White, Barry Rhoads, Jed Rhoads, Jeremy Puzio, David Hale, Kevin Dryden and Blake Canterbury. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Hale, Bobby Joe Comer, Dewell Brown, Jimmie McGuire and John Paul Hobbs. The family suggest that memorials be made to: Oil City UPC, P. O.
