Mary Jo Brown

A Celebration of Life for Mary Jo Brown, 53, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Pastor Lee Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at the funeral home. Mary Jo was born May 5, 1965 in New Orleans, LA and went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. She graduated as co-valedictorian from Friendship Academy in Shreveport in 1983 and graduated with top honors from Arkansas Paramedical School in 1985. She worked as a nurse until her health declined. The high point of her life was becoming a mother and she deeply loved her children. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Lee Gene Brown; paternal grandparents, Allen and Josephine Brown; and maternal grandparents, Claude and Edna Poland. Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Edna Claudine Brown; son, Michael Lee Shamburger (Whitney); daughters, Christy Kay Shamburger and Chelsea Lauren Shamburger; grandson, Tucker Lee Shamburger; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Poland, Chad Poland, Troy Kerry, Kevin Chandler, Waylon Ferguson, and Troy Procell. Memorials may be made to the Providence House or any local women's shelter.
