Mary Nell Burns

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services celebrating the life of Mary Nell Burns, 81, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Brother Randy Johnson will be officiating. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Mary Nell was born August 25, 1935 in Natchitoches, LA to Victor E. Prothro and Dorcas Audra James Prothro, and passed away May 9, 2017. Mary Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Dorcas Prothro; her husband of 49 years, Clemmie J. Burns; son, Robert Rumsey; daughter, Vickie Lynn Burns; granddaughter, Jennifer Lara; brother, Buford Prothro; and sister, Adelle Lichiti. Left to treasure her memory are her son, Jimmy Burns and wife, Angel`; daughters Audrey Burns and Robin Burns; grandchildren, Jessica Cahanin, Dakota Burns, Cameron Burns, Travis Owens, Jackie Burns; several great-grandchildren; sister, Vickie Harris; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Honoring Mary Nell as pallbearers will be Gene Scott, Ernie Scott, Louie Prothro, Travis Owens, Dakota Burns, and Cameron Burns.
