Mary Dell Dawson

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Dawson, 95, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Springs of Grace Baptist Church, 6300 Hearne Ave., Shreveport, LA 71108. Rev. Jeff Segner will officiate. Interment will follow at Sand Flats Cemetery in Angelina County, TX at 3:00 p.m., with Bro. Buddy King officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. Mary was born September 9, 1921 in Angelina County, TX to Billy Williams and Etta Redd Williams and went to be with her Lord on December 7, 2016. Mary was a long time member of Springs of Grace Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards and dominos, but her greatest past-time was quilting. Mary loved her family and had a wonderful sense of humor. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 35 years Joe A. Dawson, son, Bobby W. Dawson, Sr., sisters, Daisy Butler and Sophie Bounds, and brother, Noel Glen Williams. She is survived by her son, Billy J. Dawson and wife, Helen; daughter-in-law, Edna Dawson; grandchildren, Cindy Hames and husband, David, Bobby W. Dawson, Jr. and wife, Theresa, and John w. Dawson; 6 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be Bobby W. Dawson, Jr., John W. Dawson, David Hames, Jason Hames, Bro. Buddy King, Dub Finch, and Jessie Butler. The family would like to say a special thank you to all the caregivers at Harmony Life Hospice who took such good care of Mary. Also a very special thanks to her friends at Springs of Grace Baptist Church, especially to Kathy King for always being there. The family suggest memorials may be made to Springs of Grace Baptist Church or donor's choice.
