Mary Ann Elkins, age 83, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away surrounded by her children October 31, 2024, at her home following a brief illness. She was born February 6, 1941, in Spearsville, Louisiana to Bill and Idel Harris.

A graveside service celebrating the life of Mary Ann will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, located at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd, Shreveport, LA 71109.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ruth Hollis and Joyce Pouncey; companion, Maurice LaMothe; and father of her children, Boyce Elkins. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Elkins; son, Jeff (Cynthia) Elkins; grandson, Ryan (Julia) Elkins; great-grandson, Ethan Elkins; and sister, Floye Crosslin.

Mary spent her early years in Spearsville and graduated from Spearsville High School. She briefly started her secondary education but soon married and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. She raised her children and was very involved at Parkview Baptist Church. At Parkview, she sang in the choir and served in numerous organizations and committees.

While raising a family, Mary Ann attended Northwestern State University and obtained her nursing degree in 1981. She then worked for Willis-Knighton North in Shreveport for approximately 25 years where she later retired. Mary Ann always cared for other people more than herself. After retiring from nursing, she enjoyed working in her flower garden and loved spending time with family and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Willis-Knighton North and Hospice for their exceptional care. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Pat Rivers for her loving care.
