Mary Ellen McAdams Nix

A Visitation for Mary McAdams Nix, 74, of Keithville, LA will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath South Funeral Home. A Memorial/Graveside service will follow at Laran Cemetery in Laran, LA at a later date.
 
Mary McAdams Nix was born June 14, 1949, in Spearsville, LA to Flavil and Imogene McAdams. She went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on March 7, 2024, after a lengthy illness. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Ronnie Nix for 41 years until his passing, a wonderful mother to her daughters, Angela and April, and the world’s best Nana to her four precious grandchildren, Caleb, Carson, Grant and Emma Grace.  Her grandchildren were the center of her life, and she made sure to spoil them all rotten, as there was nothing off limits at “Nana’s House.”  Mary was the oldest of nine children and a “second mom” to them, as she helped raise her seven brothers and baby sister.  She moved to Shreveport when she was 18 years old and began working at the telephone company.  It was there that she met the love of her life, which she married in August 1968.  After being a stay-at-home mom for a few years, she returned to work for Rubenstein’s and then began a long career at the gas company, where she retired in May 2018 after 34 years of service.  Mary had a love for flowers and spent lots of time working in her yard.  She was currently a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church but had also been a faithful member and loved serving the youth at First Baptist Church Keithville for many years.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, Flavil and Imogene McAdams; and her husband, Ronnie Nix. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Angela Nix Riser and husband,  Tracy and April Nix Johnson and husband, Brandon; three grandsons, Caleb Riser, Carson Riser and Grant Johnson and one granddaughter, Emma Grace Johnson; seven brothers, Bobby McAdams, Joey McAdams, James McAdams, Kenneth McAdams, Ernest McAdams, Larry McAdams, Scott McAdams, and one sister, Valerie Elkins; one brother-in-law, Randy Nix and wife, Julie.  She will also be remembered by her nieces and nephews.  
 
Special thanks to Dr. Liu, as well as the nurses and staff at WKP and the Carpenter House who took such good care of her during her final days.  We are also very thankful for the staff at Azalea Estates for their gracious care over the last year.
