Mary Gibson, caring mother, widow, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away quietly on June 14, 2021. She was 73.
Mary was born to John Thomas Everett and Annie Marie Butler Everett on September 16, 1947 in Shreveport, LA. After graduating from Woodlawn High School, Mary wedded Jimmy Dale Gibson on the 20th of June 1970 at Creswell Church of Christ in Shreveport. Three sons then followed: David, Heath, and Kirk Gibson.
Mary had a sincere generosity of spirit and a deep sense of responsibility to others, which made her the quintessential loving mother and grandmother. She valued her relationships strongly and endeavored to maintain harmony with everyone she knew. She will be lovingly remembered as humble and unassuming, loyal, caring, and faithful by those left to cherish her memory. They include her sons, Heath and Kirk Gibson; granddaughters, Haleigh and Madison Gibson; step-granddaughter, Krystin Martin; as well as sisters, Janet Fox, Sandy Corbin, and Tommie Adcock. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Gibson, son David, and sister Carol Frey.
Mary loved spending time in her gardens, creating beautiful floral arrangements in her backyard and crafting new ways to beautify her space. With her natural eye for beauty, she loved creating environments that felt like home by arranging and re-arranging the décor to fit the season. She, as well, used her talents to serve others, both professionally as a florist for The Kroger Company and more casually when just helping out a friend.
The family will remember Mary with a service to be held at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will take place the previous day from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Mary will forever rest at Centuries Memorial.
