Mary Nell "Susie" Hood

Mary Nell Walker Hood, affectionately known as Susie, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on March 8, 1929, in Oklahoma to Candice Jane Nellie Walker and William Harvey Walker, Susie was a beacon of love and style throughout her life. She married Bennie Hood in April 1948, and their 76 years together were marked by a deep Christian faith and a commitment to family. She formed a cherished bond with her daughter-in-law, Cindy, and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Rd. in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Steve Munds and Dr. John Sullivan.

A devoted member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, Susie's strong Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She cherished her close bonds with her family and friends, always making time for gatherings filled with warmth and joy. Her legacy of love will continue to shine through the lives of those she touched.

Susie's creative spirit was evident in her remarkable sewing skills. An amazing seamstress, she poured her heart into handcrafted garments, ensuring her grandchildren were never short of stylish clothing, often accented with the latest fashion trends and accessories. A truly classy lady, she never left home without her lipstick and always radiated elegance.

An independent spirit, Susie approached life with an easy-going demeanor, yet she was also determined and resourceful. Her love for cats was matched only by her passion for gardening, as she cultivated stunning flowerbeds that brought joy to her surroundings.

Susie faced life with kindness, determination, and creativity. "My Stars!" was her signature phrase and will forever echo in our cherished memories. Words alone will never be enough to express how special she was to those blessed enough to know and love her.

She is survived by her son, Keith Hood (Cindy); granddaughters, Stephanie Hood Noel (Brady) and Amy Hood Lloyd; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Noel, Caroline Lloyd, Bella Noel, and Shelby Lloyd. She is also survived by her niece, Becky Munds (Steve); and nephew David Paul Terry (Mary); and great-nieces Tori Kelly (Brian), Kensi Bieniek (Jeff), and Laci Bredahl (Josh), with whom she shared a special bond.

Susie is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Betty Terry, husband, Bennie, and son, Mike Hood. As we grieve the passing of this amazing woman, we find solace that she is now with her Lord and Savior, as well as cherished loved ones, enveloped in eternal love and peace.
