BOSSIER CITY, LA - Mary H. White Horneman passed away in Shreveport, LA on November 27, 2014 following a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., with services beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City. Officiating will be Rev. Harrell Shelton of Airline Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
She was born in Castor, LA and had been a resident of Bossier City since 1950. Mrs. Horneman received her B.S. Degree from LA Tech University and Master's Degree in Education from Northwestern State University. She began her teaching career in DeSoto Parish at Mansfield High School where she taught three years before moving to Bossier City. She became a member of the Bossier Parish School System and retired 35 years later. She was a very devoted and dedicated teacher and always said that "Teaching" was such a rewarding profession!!
She was a member of the Bossier City Mothers Club, Bossier City Study Club, Cypress Garden Club, LA Retired Teachers Association, several bridge clubs, and a member of Airline Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert D. "Bob" Horneman, her parents, William Odey White and Essie Sprawls White, sister Billie W. Nix, and brother-in-law Enoch T. Nix.
She is survived by a son Robert William Horneman and wife Brenda, a daughter Mary Amy Horneman, three grandchildren Jessica and husband Matt Tyree, Casey Horneman and Matthew Horneman, two great grandchildren Abigail and Colt Tyree, and sisters-in-law Madeline Anderson, Marihelen Horneman, Marilyn Collins, and Wendy Authement.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Matthew Horneman, Matt Tyree, Billy Maxwell, Mike Patton, Greg Williams, and Chuck Horne.
Memorials may be made to Airline Baptist Church or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
