A Celebration of Life for Mary Jane Clark will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
Mary Jane was born on March 28, 1955 in Royse City, Texas, to parents, Raymond Wilson of Royse City, Texas and Stella Wilson Doest of Alligan, Michigan and went to be with her Father in Heaven, Monday, June 7, 2021. Mary Jane comes from a large family, the fourth of eight children. She absolutely loved being from a big family and cherished her brothers and sisters.
Mary Jane's passion was working with children. She started East Texas Baptist College, now East Texas Baptist University, with the goal of becoming a teacher. She married her spouse of 47 years during her first year of college. Soon after, she put college on hold for some time and dedicated her life to being a full-time mother. She then cared for her grandchildren. She earned an associate degree in Childcare from Northwestern State University and an associate degree in Ministry from Word of Life School of Ministry. Mary Jane was a strong believer and follower of Christ who dedicated her life to serving God and caring for children. During the time her own children were growing up, she treated their friends and neighborhood children like her own. "Ms. Mary" was like a mom to many.
After raising eight children, she helped care for many of her 19 grandchildren. She worked as a Childcare Specialist at First Beginnings First United Methodist Church where two of her grandsons attended for several years. She was always responsible, dedicated, driven, hardworking and had the heart of a servant. Mary Jane had a huge heart and would do anything to help anyone. She put others before herself and was one of the most giving people. Mary Jane had a silly side and loved playing with her grandchildren and could often be found singing karaoke with them and being goofy. She was all about family and was constantly surrounded by them. She also enjoyed gardening, thrift shopping and watching her favorite TV shows. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jackie Lewis. She is survived by her husband, Wiley Nordell Clark; her eight children, Christina Hobgood of Bossier City, Louisiana, Rebekah Harris of Brunswick, Georgia, Sarah Vaughn of Rossville, Georgia, Sharon Clark of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Abijah Heath and husband, Erick of Savannah, Georgia, Aaron Clark of Shreveport, Louisiana, Elizabeth Doss and husband, Brian of Shreveport, Louisiana, and David Clark of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Donnie Wilson, Carl Wilson and Mike Wilson; sisters, Deborah Wilson, Teresa Wilson and Janet Wilson, all from Texas; and many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews who were all special to her. She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren, who she was incredibly proud of and held a special place in her heart, Ethan and Luke Hobgood, Naomi and Nathanael Harris, Taylor Tuttle, Victor Guzman and Bella Vaughn, Skylar Watson, Clark Patton, Sierra Clark, McKayla and Zoe Mizell, Layton and Easton Clark, Caleb Holland, Mackenzie, Alayna, Brenna and Skye Doss.
