Mary Elise Johnston

STONEWALL, LA - Mary Elise Johnston was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She studied music at Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and worked as a bank teller for many years. A woman of profound faith, she attended and was active in the church choir at Brookwood Baptist Church since 1956. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her daughter Karen Johnston Rascoe, parents Van and Elsie Smith, and brother James Hendrix. She is survived by her husband of 65 years John William Johnston, sons Brooks, Keith and Carey Johnston and wife Carmelita, and daughter Carolyn Troup and husband Rudolph. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation and funeral service will be Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Brookwood Baptist Church in Shreveport. Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. and funeral service immediately follows. The service will be officiated by the Reverend John Harp. Interment will be at Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, Lousiana.
