Funeral services for Mary Lea Palmer, 93, will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Officiating the service will be Chaplain Randy Goudeau.
Mary was born on August 19, 1927 to Arthur and Emmie Byrd in Rattan, Louisiana and passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Mary was a resident of Shreveport and worked the switchboard for Willis-Knighton Hospital for 25 years. She was a kind soul that never had a bad word to say about anyone. She loved everyone! She loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed it her entire life until her health prohibited her from doing so.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Walter Palmer; and her son, Thomas Wayne Palmer. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Melonie Flores, Charlene Owens, Jerry Byrd, Dorothy Langley and husband, Will, and Charlotte Reed and husband, Rick; daughter, Janet Powell; grandchildren, Jennifer Wells and fiance', Bill McGough, Ryan Palmer, M.D. and wife, Kathy, and Amanda Baird; great-grandchildren, Justin Williams, Brady Wells, Matthew Palmer, Will Palmer, Luke Palmer, Alyssa Wallace, and Alayna Baird; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Willis-Knighton Medical System and Regional Hospice for the excellent care and compassion given to Mary during her illness.
