Mary "Kathy" Leathers

Memorial services for Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Formby Leathers will be Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Kathy was born to Miller Lee Formby and Tina Irene McConathy in Savannah, Georgia on May 4, 1941 and passed away completely unexpectedly on October 5, 2020 in Bossier, Louisiana. After graduating from high school, Kathy went on to become a life long scholar with multiple degrees and certifications. She was an avid pianist and organist who loved to sing and play them both. Kathy played both the piano and the organ for her church as she was raising her children for many years. One of her favorite activities was to preform music with her family. Kathy was also a lover of any and all animals, most of all, her 14 year old poodle and soulmate, Max. Kathy was also a follower of Christ who loved Jesus with all her heart and impacted infinite lives for the Kingdom. She knew the Bible inside and out, an even beyond the age of 65 decided to go to seminary and graduated in Minden, Louisiana. Kathy also taught sunday school to other seniors. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Leathers; daughter, Deana Hodges; son, Robert Hodges. Kathy is survived by brother, Jerry Formby and wife Cheryl; daughters, Kelly Perusse and husband Gregory, Kimberly Garcia and husband Allen, Leslie Forns and husband Jose; grandchildren, Andrew Chamberlain and wife Paige, Adam Forns, Leah Forns, Christina Garcia, Joe Garcia, Maggie Garcia, Michael Perusse, Rachel Sanders and husband Matt, Krystle Simmons and husband Cody and Deana Waddell; niece, Rhonda Burlison and her 3 daughters; nephew, Jay Formby and his 2 sons, as well as their mother Rita Allen Formby. In addition, Kathy was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She left a very large and lasting legacy for many generations to come, who all loved her very much. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Greg Perusse, Allen Garcia, Jose Forns, Andrew Chamberlain, Joseph Garcia, Michael Perusse, Cody Simmons, Matt Sanders, Jared Bassett, Brandon Pearce and Joseph Matta. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and friends Summerfield Estates, where she resided, for their love and friendship over the past several years. She had many friends there who loved her and valued their friendship and time together.
