Mary Vivian Lee was born on April 19, 1927, in Ringgold, Louisiana to Roger William and Lola V. Sparks. Vivian departed to her Heavenly home on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living in Shreveport.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Grant, and husband, Robert (Rex, Georgia) and Karen Guyton (Bossier City, Louisiana); brother, Ray Sparks, and wife, Barbara and four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Youree Lee; parents, Roger and Lola V. Sparks; William Darrell Guyton, son-in-law, and brother, William Clarence Sparks.
Vivian was a homemaker during the 65 years she was married to Youree. She enjoyed their time spent on Lake Bisteneau, fishing, cooking “the greatest” biscuits, and serving coffee and homemade cookies to friends and family on the porch of their camp house. Her daughters, while growing up, wore beautiful clothing she lovingly made. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting while helping Youree in the garden.
She taught preschool as a Sunday School teacher for 33 years at Barksdale Baptist Church. Vivian was known to all women of prayer and great faith. She was a grandmother who loved all her grandchildren without limits, (Bobby, Kati, Dana, and Will) and then nine great-grandchildren, (Jacob, Colton, Emily, Sara, Lydia, Lana Kate, Layton, Madalyn, Cooper, Lola, Reese, and Cole). Vivian loved family and especially family reunions. We can only imagine the family reunion she is receiving in Heaven today.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Sylvia Guyton, Brookdale Senior Living (Shreveport) staff, Lifepath Hospice staff, and the Home-bound ministry from Barksdale Baptist Church for their love and care over the past three years.
