Mary Laverne Ford Baker

Funeral services for Mary Laverne Ford Baker (Muffin), 81, will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. David Hill.
 
Mary was born on September 22, 1942, in Benson, Louisiana to Harley Colver Ford and Mary Syble Ford and passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, in Shreveport.
 
Mary was a resident of Shreveport. She was married to the love of her life, Bobby Dean Baker, until his death. They were married for 60 wonderful years. Mary loved to travel. She enjoyed cooking, having coffee on the porch, and spending time with her family.
 
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dean Baker; and parents, Harley and Mary Ford; brothers, Thomas Ford, and Harley Wayne Ford; and granddaughter, Ashley Inez Byford. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Amanda Noelle Hobdy and husband, Reid, and Teresa Ann Gregory and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Allison L. Byford, Megan A. Drane, and Jonathan Hobdy; great-grandchildren, Jacob Connor Barbo, and Alyce Katherine Byford; sister, Joe Ann Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary had a special cousin, Buggy Bossier and wife, Barbara Ann, that she considered as close as a brother and a sister.
 
Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be Jay Baker, H.C. Ford, Cody Jetton, Wilson Baker, Quinton Hill, and Jeff Heard. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charles Dean Ford, and Bradley McDonald.
 
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Heritage Manor Stratmore, Life Path Hospice, and The Bloom of Bossier City.
 
The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
