SHREVEPORT, LA - Celebration of Life services for Mrs. Mary Elsie Cooper McGraw, 77, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 in the Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Brother Randy Johnson of Countryside Baptist Church, Keithville, LA officiating. Graveside service will resume on the grounds of Bethsadia Cemetery, Many, LA at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 26, 2014. The family would like to welcome guests for visitation on Monday, August 25, 2014 from the hours of 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Rose-Neath Southside.
Mrs. Elsie was born July 10, 1937 in Many, LA to the late Autrey Isria Cooper and Eula Mae Tramel Davis and was called to play for the Heavenly choir on August 22, 2014 in Bossier City, LA. She visited a number of churches in the area, always first to volunteer to play the piano or the organ. Mrs. Elsie always enjoyed praising her Lord Jesus Christ through teaching Sunday school and children's choir for many years. She always took such pride in her garden where she would enjoy all the beautiful flowers and loved to share them with everyone. Mrs. Elsie always enjoyed studying the book of Ruth for it was her favorite. Her life is best described in Proverbs 31: 10-31.
Mrs. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish the beautiful memories Mrs. Elsie leaves behind her beloved husband of 55 years; Mr. L.D. McGraw, one son; Doug McGraw and wife Jackie, one daughter; Renee' McGraw, one brother; Bennie James Cooper and wife Betty, five sisters: Janice Brown and husband Glenn, Patsy Sandel and husband John, Brenda McIntosh and husband Jerry, Dianne Clarson and husband Jerry, Kathy Kozik and husband Al. Three grandchildren: David Ryan Norris, Lacy Taylor and husband Jon, Stacy Henington and husband Cole, four great-grandchildren; Emily Long, Jonathan Taylor, Macy and Samuel Henington, a special cousin; Rosie Cangelose, along with numerous extended family members and many wonderful friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Matthew Frank, the staff of Willis-Knighton North Rehab/Out Patient Rehab, Cornerstone Hospital for their care and compassion provided to Mrs. Mary and her family during such a difficult time.
