Mary Waldron Smithey Ruffin
Funeral services for Mary Waldron Smithey Ruffin will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church West Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Rev. Bruce Lee and Rev. Jerry Elgin officiating. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mary was born January 28, 1926 in Oil City, Louisiana and entered into rest July 6, 2016 in Minden, Louisiana. She was a retired librarian with the Webster Parish Library, a member of First Baptist Church, past member of First Baptist Church in Sibley, and the Gideons Ladies Auxillary.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Willie Smithey, parents Robert Lee Waldron and Annie Florence Walker Waldron, three brothers, Willie Waldron, Ralph Waldron, and Bill Waldron and three sisters Ann Anders, Irma Lord, and her twin sister Martha Waldron Sartor.
She is survived by her husband, William Clifford Ruffin of Minden, sons: William John Smithey and wife Bonnie of Haughton, Richard Lee Smithey of Sibley, daughters: Annette Cole and husband Marty of Minden, Marilyn Lee and husband Bruce of Sibley, Martha Smithey and husband Luis Ramirez of Lubbock, Texas, stepchildren: Bill Ruffin and wife Lynn of Mandeville, Gayle Slaughter and husband Mike of Bellaire, Texas, Beth Hudson and husband Hugh of Homestead, Florida, grandchildren: Billy Fish and wife Becky of Dubberly, Terri Paul and husband Kenneth of Alexandria, Crystal Gann and husband Quincey of Bossier City, John Michael Fish of Minden, Hershel Callender and wife Heather of Lubbock, Texas, Christopher Slaughter and wife Beth of Houston, Texas, Dustin Kimble and wife Sam of Washington D.C., and numerous great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tom Sartor, Joe Sartor, Jerry Madden, Tracy Campbell, Sutton Orenbaum, and Robert McKillips.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gideons or church of your choice.
