Mary Belle Rushing

HOMER, LA: Memorial services for Mary Belle McKenzie Rushing, 93, were held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 26, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Homer, Louisiana. Officiating will be Rev. R.B. Moore. Mrs. Rushing was born Easter Sunday, April 16, 1922 in Homer, LA and she died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in Houston Texas. She attended Centenary College and later was a graduate of LSU, class of 1943. Mrs. Rushing enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining and playing bridge. Mrs. Rushing was preceded in death by her husband, Hollie Rushing; brothers, Harry McKenzie, Jr. and Robert William McKenzie; and her parents, Harry McKenzie, Sr. and Sallie Dawson McKenzie. Mrs. Rushing is survived by one son, Harry McKenzie "Mac" Rushing and wife Karen of Homer, LA; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Rushing Benson and husband Matthew of Houston, TX; one sister, Sara McKenzie Marshall of Lecompte, LA; four granddaughters, Gina Rushing McGrury and husband, Sam of Twentynine Palms, CA, Anna Belle Rushing of Bath, Maine, Hollie Benson Breeden and husband, John and Erin Benson, all from Houston. One great granddaughter, Cora Belle McGrury of Twentynine Palms, CA For friends considering memorials honoring Mrs. Rushing, her family suggests the First United Methodist Church in Homer.
