HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mary Frances McKenzie Scriber, 90, at the Sharon Baptist Church near Lisbon on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Caroll Holmes, officiating. Interment followed at Sharon Cemetery.
Mrs. Scriber was born November 3, 1923 in Homer to Jessie and Louise Kirkpatrick McKenzie. She entered into rest Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Homer Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Scriber was the clerk at Sharon Baptist Church for over 50 years as well as teaching Sunday school and bible study.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Ray Scriber; infant daughter, Margaret Louise; granddaughter, Sonya; and two sisters, Katherine Davis and Hannah Toms.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Alice "May" Saulters and husband, Glynn of Quitman and Virginia Suggs and husband Ronnie of Bossier City; one son, James Edward Scriber and wife, Annie of Lisbon; two sisters, Ruth Sherrill of Homer and Peggy Sandlin and husband, Terry of Homer; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Billy Scriber, Jerry Andrews, Clifton Sandlin, Jim Hall, Ross Rhodes and Logan Puckett.
Honorary pallbearers were Marty McCurry and Bobby Scriber.
