HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Mary Oma Smith, 77, at First Baptist Church of Homer, 406 W. Main Street in Homer, LA on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Gill, officiating. Interment followed in Holly Springs Cemetery near Homer. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Smith was born October 30, 1938 in Linville, LA to Sherman and Lura Elizabeth Hodge Roberson. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 24, 2016 in Homer. Mrs. Smith was former co-owner of Fred Smith & Sons and a former employee of South Claiborne Water System. A long time active member of the Ruple Baptist Church, Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, grandma and great grandma, as well as, Mamaw to many others. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 47 years, Fred Weyland Smith; and a sister, Marjory Tanner. She is survived by four sons, Weyland Smith and wife Carol, Kenneth Smith, Randy Smith and wife Donna, and Keith Smith and wife Melissa, all of Homer; a daughter, Charlene Killgore and husband Grant of Homer; a sister, Shirley Roberson Elliott and husband Dr. Clyde Elliott of West Monroe; two aunts, Ida Bell Albritton and Melba Roberson, both of Farmerville; two sisters-in-law, Betty Smith of Alexandria, AL and Faye Smith Osbourne of Marion, LA; thirteen grandchildren, John David, Mary Kate (Tom), Rodney, Daniel (Shayla), Jason, Nicole (Scott), Cassie (Kirk), Rachel, Zach (Courtney), Shea, Jeremy (Brittany), Brandon and Jake; 12 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were John David Smith, Daniel Smith, Jason Smith, Zach Killgore, Jeremy Smith, Brandon Smith, Jake Smith and Scott Dye. In lieu of flowers honoring Mrs. Smith, her family suggests memorials be made to Ruple Baptist Church, Holly Springs Cemetery or charity of donor's choice.
