Funeral services were held for Mrs. Mary Catherine Gray Ware, age 90, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA, on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Rodney Gray, officiated. Interment followed near Haynesville, LA, at Wares Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was at the funeral home on Saturday, from 9-10 a.m. Mrs. Ware was born May 11, 1932, in Claiborne Parish, LA, to Maurice Evans Gray and James E. Gray, Sr. She entered into rest surrounded by her family on Monday, June 6, 2022, in Homer, LA. Mrs. Ware was employed by Homer Memorial Hospital as a CNA and retired after many years of service. She was an avid reader, sewed clothes and dolls, and lily's were her favorite flower. Mrs. Ware made some mean chicken and dressing and hot water cornbread. She was a care giver at heart who was beautiful inside and out. Mrs. Ware was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great, great-grandmother. Mrs. Ware was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel G. Ware; four children, Baby Ware, Samuel Ware, Jr., Richard Lee Ware, and Jerry Randell Ware; brother, Jimmy Gray; three sisters, Evelyn Davis, Blanche and Geraldine; and two sons-in-law, Richard Lee and Brooksie Lee. She is survived by her son, Sammy Ware of Dubach, LA; Glenda and Charles Cottrell of Homer, LA, Betty Lee of Homer, LA, and Joy Lee of Haughton, LA; sister, Iva Nell Taylor and husband James of Downsville, LA; brother, John Gray and wife Gail of Homer, LA; eight grandchildren, Sondra Cottrell Murphy, Charles Wesley Cottrell and wife Sara, Amy Lee, Robert Lee, Jennifer Lee, Matt Lee and wife Adrienne, Denise Cavin and husband Chris, and Phillip Ware and wife Emily; great-grandchildren, Christopher Bridgers, Dylan Murphy, Annabelle Cottrell, Marley Cottrell, Stephaine Miller, Alex Modisette, Preston Lee, Hayven Lee, Caroline Cavin, Haley Cavin, Abigail Ware and Maddi Ware; two great, great-grandchildren Julleen Salter and Dalton Hayes; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Charles Wesley Cottrell, Matt Lee, Robert Lee, Phillip Ware, Preston Lee, and Alex Modisette.
