It is with great sadness that the family of Matt Daniel Trahan, 47, announces his passing. He passed as a result of a brief illness at Ochsner LSU Medial Center – Shreveport on Friday, November 22, 2024.
If you were so fortunate to have had him in your life or have worked with him in any capacity, it is with great certainty he left an impact on your life in some way.
He imbodied strength, courage, compassion and unwavering faith. Matt was a man of God. He loved Jesus immensely and got up each morning on a mission to prove his love to him doing our Lord’s work here on earth. He Loved as Jesus Loved – literally from home to the homeless; his love had no conditions; no limits. He was persistent in that, knowing that there was but one way into heaven….to live the life of Jesus. And that he did!
Matt served many ministries and part of many organizations which were near and dear to his heart. Matt knew that Jesus led him there which surrounded him with beautiful people all walking the same journey of Faith.
Matt was a character. A true “one of a kinder”. From sun up to sun down with a work ethic that is unparalleled. He was “finicky foodie”; but always looking for a good meal and a good laugh.
Matt was witty and kind; but mostly he was loving and selfless. He spent his days as a heavy equipment operator and when he wasn’t working you could find him helping others in need, ministering to anyone who would listen. He loved getting his hands dirty. He loved gardening and hunting and absolutely loved creating beautiful wooden pieces from trees he’d save after removal from natural disasters in the area.
Matt was loved by everyone who knew him; but none more than his family. Matt was greatly respected, more successful in life than he ever realized, and richer in everything that matters most in this world. While his work here is done, we find comfort knowing he is at peace and resting in the loving arms of Jesus.
Matt will be missed by his family and many friends he made along his journey, especially Pete Rashke and Donna Rocchi.
Matt is survived by his mother, Paulette Gastal; his brothers, Neal Trahan and Jeremy Trahan; his sister, Leah Naquin (Todd); his niece, Madilyn Naquin; nephews, Hale Trahan (Gabby) and Dane Trahan and many cousins.
Matt is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Trahan; his maternal grandparents, Marion and Ruby Gastal; his paternal grandparents, Daniel and Bernice Trahan and cousin, Colby Bodin.
