Mattie Kay Wheless Bush

Mattie Kay Wheless Bush passed away on April 28, 2025 at her home in Mansfield, Louisiana. She was born on January 17, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Walter Orie and Maudie Bell Thomas Wheless.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St. Mansfield, LA 71052. Funeral services honoring the life of Mattie will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in Florien, Louisiana. Officiating will be Bro. Robert Davis and Bro. Lee McClintock. Honoring Mattie as pallbearers will be John “Redman” Wheless, JC Wheless, Jody Piper, Jr., Nick Lowe, Ar’rion Anderson, and Brennon Anderson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be D.W. Wheless, Eric Wheless, Rusty Hatcher, and Daniel Hatcher.

Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Bush; and siblings, James “Hey Man” Wheless, Nannie Gibbs, and Billy Cordova. She is survived by her daughters, Kim Walker (Clint), Nikki Bell (Sammy), Tammy Gooch (Larry), and Donna Anderson; sister, Ann Anderson; brothers, Red Wheless, Stud Wheless (Linda), and Walter Wheless (Lisa); grandchildren, Skylar Walker (Logan), C.J. Walker, Markale McCollister, Arshaun Bell, King “Mann” Bell, Sammy Bell, Nick Lowe (Esme), Ar’rion Anderson, and Brennon Anderson (Canaya); great-grandchildren, Logan “Bubba” Speedy, Jr., Greyson Speedy, Brenleigh Anderson, B.J. Anderson, Nicholas Lowe, and Isabella Lowe; along with dearest friend/cousin, Nelda Lawrence.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Superior Hospice, ICU nurse Natalie, and Dr. Pearson for all the care, love, and support provided to Mattie and family.
