Mavis N. Calahan

Mavis N. Calahan died on August 10, 2024. She was born in rural Lincoln Parish, (Simboro, LA) on March 5, 1922. She graduated from Simsboro High School in 1939. Then attended Louisiana Tech and business school. During WWII she was employed by the U. S. Government War Department in Washinton, D.C. After several years of employment, she moved to Shreveport, LA and was employed by the Lipper-Stutsman Co. She was the daughter of the late Prince and Lillian Calahan.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Calahan and sister-in-law, Rareen Calahan. She is survived by cousins and friends.

Mavis was an active member and involved volunteer of First Baptist Church of Shreveport. She spent her final years as a resident of the Glen Retirement Village.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the funeral home with Ronney Joe Webb officiating. There will also be a time of visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in the family plot south of Arcadia off Highway 147.

Memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church of Shreveport, 543 Ockley Dr. Shreveport, LA 71106 or to charity of donor’s choice.
