A graveside service honoring the life of Maxine Elliott Jones will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Providence Cemetery, Ringgold, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Jerry Warren. Maxine Elliott Jones was born in Stamps, Arkansas on November 2, 1922 to Johnnie K. Elliott and Ernest Elliott and passed away peacefully at The Glen on Thursday, January 9, 2020. Maxine graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1939 as Valedictorian and won the state French Championship in 1938 and 1939. After receiving a scholarship from the National Institute of Mental Health, Maxine attended George Washington University where she received her bachelor's degree and was a member of the National Social Science Honor Society, Pi Gamma Mu. She also received a master's degree in social work from the University of Southern California, where she first become a lifelong member of Phi Beta Kappa. As a lifelong member of Woodridge Baptist Church, her faith always played an important role in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen E. Yancey; brothers, Robert Elliott, Ernest "Junior" Elliott and special brother, Frank Elliott and her loving husband of 61 years, Bennie W. Jones, Jr. Maxine is survived by daughter, Linda Jones; special nieces, Betty Williams, Shirley White and husband, Jim and Pat Elliott; nephews, Steve Horton and Yalanda Rensink, Bo Snellings and wife, Amy; sister-in-law, Eileen Jones of Huntsville, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews. Serving Maxine as Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Horton, Bo Snellings, Jim White, Jimmy White, Sandy Thompson, Charlie Chance and Charlie Henington. Linda would like to thank Dr. Scott Patton and his staff at Family Doctors for their many years of care and assistance. Linda and the family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Glen for their care for the last year, especially Leslie and the staff in Magnolia House for their excellent care, support and friendship; to St. Joseph Hospice for their care and concern; and the Sunday school group Truth Seekers of Woodridge Baptist Church for their love and support during the last several years. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest memorials be made to Woodridge Baptist Church, 850 E. Burt Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, Louisiana 71106.
