Maymie Elizabeth Prince Dubois, age 108, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020, as a result of injuries from a fall in October 2019. She was only 22 days from her 109th birthday. A visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel, 2201 Airline, Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Burial will follow the service at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana. Brother Randy Goudeau will officiate the services. Maymie was born in Pocahontas, Tennessee on July 25, 1911. At age 7, her mom passed away of Spanish Flu and her dad moved her and her siblings to Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She attended Franklin School in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and then continued her education in Chicago, Illinois attending Culinary School. Maymie was married to Virgil Paul Dubois on February 16,1929. They had eight children and were married 41 years when she lost him to massive stroke. She never remarried. Maymie was a homemaker most of her life. She was devoted to God, her husband and her family. She was a charter member of Northwood Baptist Church in Shreveport. She was a wonderful cook, the kitchen was the place to be. Everyone wanted a chair at the table. When she knew you were coming, she would have your favorite foods prepared! She was the one to go to for good advice, a great laugh and even her crooked finger pointed if she was really serious. She touched everyone\'s life that knew her. She was the Rock of the family and will be greatly missed. Maymie is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Thomas and Minnie Bell Prince; husband, Virgil Dubois; brothers, Clarence, Arvin and Ted Prince; sister, Ruth Harlow; three children, Marshall Dubois, Don Ed Dubois and Karen Freeman; grandchildren; Patty Dubois, Robert Howell, Jr., Jimmy Paul Dubois and Shelia Grogan; great-grandchildren, Heather Williams and Jeremy Posey. She is survived by sons, Kenneth Dubois of Benton, AR and Richard Dubois and wife, Carolyn, of Shreveport, LA; four daughters, Janice "Cookie" Sprawls and husband, Bud, of Ringgold, Nancy Howell and husband, Lee, of Haughton and Connie Birmingham and husband, Terry of Shreveport, LA; 18 grandchildren, Dennis Dubois, Duane Dubois and wife, Susanne, Renee Dempsey and husband, Larry, Andy Dubois and wife, Nancy, Vickie Mallett, Lynda Williams and husband, Mike, Debbie Hobson and husband, Mike, Barbara Cox and husband, Dennis, Tracy Bell, Tom Poston, Tarriel Poston, and Travis Poston; step-grandchildren, Matt Birmingham and wife, Megan and Tamara Beightol and husband, Chad; 27 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kayley, Colton, Travis II, and Trevor Poston, Dennis, Jennifer, Jason, and Craig Dubois, Seith Orrell, Nikki Carothers, Brandi Higgins, Sabrina Harris, Joe Jones, Stacy Mallett, Nicole Mallett, Dale Jackson, Angelina Whittington, Jean Luke Whittington, Lawrence Wynn, Sadie Howell, Desiree Luna, Joshua Thomas; step-great-grandchildren; Evelyn Birmingham and Kaleb Beightol; 38 great-great-grandchildren and five great-great-great- grandchildren. Honoring Maymie as pallbearers will be grandsons, Duane Dubois, Andy Dubois, Tom Poston, Tarriel Poston, great -grandsons, Colton Poston and Travis Poston, II. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be John Stuckey and grandson, Travis Poston. The family wishes to thank Dr. Wen Liu and his staff for all the love and care they have given throughout the years; Eric from Willis-Knighton Pierremont for all his care and kindness; caregivers over the last 6 years, Willie Baylor and Stephanie Stinson for going above and beyond for her care and personal attention and Regional Hospice for her care over last 5 months.
