Melanie Charlene Redling

Charlene went to rest suddenly and peacefully on March 26, 2018, her granddaughter Audrey's 5th birthday. Audrey was the joy of her life and the daughter she never had. Charlene was preceded in death by her mother Margie Morin and her sister Brenda Young. Left in the void to mourn this loss are her husband of 28 years, Bruce Redling, two sons Brian and Casey, the granddaughter Audrey, and a too-large-to-name-all Redling family, from Shreveport and New Jersey. Also mourning her loss is her dearly loved family originally from Alabama: Her Father, Charles Messick, and wife Ann from Troy, Alabama; sister Bonnie Pyle and husband Earl from Natchez, Mississippi; sister Vicky Snyder of Annapolis, MD; Aunt Mildred Flowers and husband Ken from Montgomery, Alabama; Aunt Virginia Farrior and husband Winston from Montgomery, Alabama; Nieces Jamie Pyle of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Nicole Coker and Ashley Young of Montgomery, Alabama; Nephew George Snyder of Annapolis, Maryland. Charlene was 55 years old. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is a graduate of Captain Shreve High School, where there were many pleasant memories that she shared. She was victorious in the fight over many of life's battles. Her courage is admirable and appreciated, and it will always be remembered. She will be sincerely missed by all of her family and friends in this tough old world. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath, 1815 Marshall Street in Shreveport. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. immediately after the viewing at Rose-Neath, and an internment will immediately follow at Hill Crest Cemetery, 601 Highway 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana. Everyone is invited after this final goodbye to come by Vera Redling's home at 2534 Mecom Drive, Shreveport, LA for reminiscing with friends and family. Charlene was also very concerned about the homeless population in our area. So, in lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in her memory to Catholic Charities or the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission. Roll Tide!!! (this is the one thing we didn't agree upon, but it will make her happy for us to say it. Even though she spent more than half of her life in Louisiana, we could never convert her to an LSU fan).
