Celebration of life and going home service for Melba Davis, 73, was held Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hall Summit, LA at 11:00 AM with Rev. Charles Clark officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hall Summit, LA. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Melba was born October 6, 1942, in Shreveport, LA, to James Robert and Birdie Louise Gillaspie and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 23, 2016, in Frisco, TX. She was a very godly woman who loved to sing in the church on Sunday, spending time with her kids and grandkids, spending time outside gardening and on the lake, grooming dogs and loving her birds. She loved cooking, going square dancing, doing arts and crafts for the holidays. She was a very loving and caring lady.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James Robert and Birdie Gillaspie; siblings, Karen Barron and Kenneth Gillaspie; son, Douglas Logan, Jr.; and husband, Neil Davis.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother, J. R, Gillaspie and wife, Carolyn; sons, Howard E. Logan of Florien, LA, Kevin S. Logan of Jefferson, TX, and Tracy Logan and wife, Sarah of Little Elm, TX; grandchildren, Monica, Eric, T. J., and wife, Jordanna, Kody, Christopher, Lucas, Jason, Samantha, Gunner, Gauge, and Tripp; great-grandchildren, Blake, Joshua, Cheyenne, Kameron, Cassidy, Audree, Jaxon, Addison, and Jaxx; and numerous nieces and nephews.
