Melba Kerry Melba Joy Kerry, 80 years old went home to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at her residence after a lengthy illness. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery St. Vincent. Visitation will be held on Friday, August, 21, 2015 from 5 p.m. til 8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Marshall Street. Ms. Kerry was a Retired Registered Nurse of 52 years, working 30 plus years at Schumpert Medical Center and also working at numerous home health agencies, and Nursing homes in the Shreveport area. Ms. Kerry is preceded in death by her father Henry F. Simons, Sr. and her mother Lottie F. Simons, husband Edward F. Kerry, and brother-in-law Robert Quick. Survivors include her son Donald Kerry and wife Jennifer of Shreveport; grandson, Shawn E. Kerry of Benton, LA; granddaughters, Amanda M. Kerry and Shelly Kay Kerry both of Shreveport. She is also survived by one brother Henry F. Simons Jr. and wife Wilma of Benton, LA; two sisters, Betty Quick of Carrolton, GA, and Mary Ann Gray and husband Robert of Blanchard, LA; also her special friends Eva Jo Goodson and husband Patrick of Norman, OK; nieces and nephews, Robert Quick, Renae Quick, Bobby Simons and wife Brooke, Tricia Drake and husband Don; and her partner in crime Amy Gault of Blanchard, and last but not least her Furbabys Bella, Santos, and Bear. Serving Ms. Kerry as pallbearers will be Patrick Mitchell, Shawn Kerry, Luke Samuels, Henry Simons, Bobby Simons, and Robert Gray II. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Shreveport/Bossier for the wonderful care and compassion for our mother, and would also like to thank the Shreveport Fire Department, and Balentine Ambulance Service.
