HOMER. LA: Funeral services were held for Ruth Gantt Prince, 86 years old, at the First Baptist Church in Homer, La. on August 31, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Greg Dunn, Rev. Steve Pettey and Rev. Spencer Lovitt officiating. Interment followed at Arlington cemetery.
Mrs. Prince was born August 26, 1928 to Cloy and Lois Gantt. She entered into rest Friday August 29, 2014 in Shreveport. Mrs. Prince was a lifelong member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was the owner and operator of Port-Au-Prince on Lake Claiborne for 48 years, her entire life was spent serving others.
Mrs. Prince was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years H.R. "Buck" Prince, three brothers, Louie, Glawson and Ronnie Gantt.
She is survived by four sons, Benny Prince and wife Eleanor of Eastland, Tx., Andy Prince and wife Shirley of Homer, Donny Prince and wife Glenda of Homer and Danny Prince and wife Lenn of Dallas, Tx., daughter Joan Almond and husband Jerry of Minden, sister Mell Gantt Robinson of Houston, Tx. and lifelong friend and sister in Christ Annie B. Jackson of Homer, seventeen grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her grandsons Philip Prince, Casey Prince, Carl Prince, Daniel Prince and Craig Almond served as her pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Gary Don Gantt and Kevin Robinson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Iqbal Singh, Sonya Edelman, Matt and staff, also the Haynes and Gladney family for their love and support thru the years and care givers Hallie B. Smith and Shirley Prince and Annie Cotton.
